Peirano's , 204 E. Main St., Ventura. 648-4853: The new restaurant replaces Jonathan's at Peirano's in a Ventura building that housed Peirano's grocery store for many years. New owner Sanaa Dugan has just reopened the restaurant under its historic name, and executive chef Robert Grenner is livening up the menu with his magical touch. Items like tri-color roasted heirloom beets with green pea guacamole, or fiery chicken wings with Scotch Bonnet jerk sauce and Persian cucumbers, lead into service of main dishes including Brook Trout with blue crab and cornbread stuffing and brown butter-Meyer lemon sauce. The French Bulldog Bistro and Lounge, 2433 Ventura Blvd., Old Town Camarillo. 482-5249: Chef Gael Lecolley is inspiring the bistro's Gallic theme, especially at Sunday's Farm Fresh Brunch, where crepes meet quiches and warm, light beignets are a regular at each table, along with juice, coffee and Champagne. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the brunch, but be sure to call for any changes. A lobster eggs Benedict and a seafood omelet are brunch standouts.
