After about a year of waiting, Shane’s Rib Shack is finally ready to open up. The new barbecue eatery, the first of its chain in Ocala, opens its doors at 11 a.m. Monday for what’s likely to be a long run.
It takes up one end of the Magnolia Point plaza, a virtual food court at 2602 SW 19th Ave. Road in front of the Easy Street Walmart. Also in the plaza are Wing Zone right next door, Taipei Garden, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Crisper’s.
It was just about a year ago that we learned through a national press release that Shane’s, which keeps finding itself on “must watch” and “innovative concept” lists, was opening up Florida with several new units — including one in Ocala.
Not bad for a little tin roof barbecue place in rural McDonough, Ga., some 10 years ago.
The new Shane’s is brought to Ocala by Brad Harper, who once upon a time also brought the Georgia-based Zaxby’s to Ocala, Kristen Keene and Richard Mead — all partners in something called Penta Excel Group.
